Serbian Council of Great Britain invites you to an evening at the Leighton House Museum, former home of the Victorian artist Frederic, Lord Leighton. The only purpose-built studio-house open to the public in Britain, it is one of the most remarkable buildings of the XIX century, containing a fascinating collection of paintings and sculptures by Leighton and his contemporaries.
6.30 pm Serbian Council AGM – all welcome
7.30 pm Refreshments and sightseeing of the museum
8pm Programme with special guest Lazar Dzamic, Head of Brand Planning, Google ZOO, accompanied by Maya Momcilovic Jordan on piano
Author of seven books, publicist and marketing consultant will talk about his latest books ‘The Florist in the House of the Flowers – Homage to Alan Ford’ (Cvjecarnica u kuci cveca), An Essential Guide Through The Serbian Mentality as well as ‘Plum Tea’ (Caj od sjliva), About Serbs, English and Emigration’s Fantasies (published in Dec 2015)
“Flowershop in the House of Flowers” was one of the most talked-about Serbian books in 2014. This book is a kind of a “lens” to explore the surreal, turbulent and sentimental mental landscape of the Balkans: it’s culture of everlasting improvisation, cynical humour and unspoiled creativity.
The talk will be mostly in Serbian due to the specific topics.
