In memory of Serbian writer, Milos Crnjanski

In keeping with our aim to promote awareness of Serbian culture in Great Britain, in July 2004 we erected a plaque in memory of Serbian writer, Milos Crnjanski, on a building in London in which he lived.

This was the result of a collaborative effort of the Serbian Council, the Embassy of Serbia and Montenegro and several enthusiastic members of London Serbian community who initiated the idea.
The plaque is set above the door of Queen’s Court (flats 31-155), in Queensway, London W2, where Crnjanski lived from 1953 till 1965.

There are three other commemorative plaques to prominent Serbs who lived in London: to Dositej Obradovic, in Clement’s Lane, EC4; to Slobodan Jovanovic, on the corner of 48-52 Cromwell Road, SW7; and to Dr Miodrag Purkovic, on the wall of the Serbian Community Centre in 89, Lancaster Road, W11.
