Highlighting the splendours of the Byzantine Empire, Byzantium 330–1453 comprises around 300 objects (icons, detached wall paintings, micro-mosaics, ivories, enamels plus gold and silver metalwork) including several objects from Serbia among wich the bell from The Patriarchate of Pec from XV centure. Some of the works have never been displayed in public before.

Leading member of the Yugoslav Black Wave, and winner of the Golden Bear at the Berlin International Film Festival in 1969 with a film on the aftermath of the Russian invasion in Czechoslovakia.

"Accelerator- Clutch- Brake: Modernisation processes in Belgrade, 1890-1914"
Dr Dubravka Stojanović is associate professor of history at the Faculty of Philosophy of the University of Belgrade. She has recently published the book ‘Kaldrma i asfalt: Urbanizacija I evropeizacija Beograda, 1890-1914’. The lecture will present some themes and findings from the book.
Discussion will follow by Dr Ger Duijzings (SSEES-UCL) and Dr Wendy Bracewell (SSEES-UCL). A reception will follow.
