LONDONSKE DEMONSTRACIJE I SLEDECI KORACI/ LONDON DEMONSTRATIONS AND THE NEXT STEPS
O svim sledecim akcijama i preduzetim koracima cemo vas blagovremeno obavestavati.
Srpski Savet Velike Britanije & Srpsko Drustvo
We wish to thank all of you who attended the London demonstrations on Saturday, February 23rd! Since we organised the protest in less than 72 hours, we wish to thank all of you who came and who forwarded our invitation to your friends and acquaintances to spread the word about the event.
Our own estimate is that there were 700-800 people at the demonstrations from all bigger cities in the UK where there are Serbian communities including Leicester, Bradford, Reading, Halifax, Southend and others and that we made our community proud with our own dignified behaviour. Thank you for bringing so many flags that unite us, as well as positive messages on your placards.
Our protest was one of about twenty organised for that day around Europe and the world, therefore the coverage was minimal from the Serbian media. However, a few British and international media reported the news of our gathering as well as the video and audio interviews. As the next step, we expect a Parliamentary debate tomorrow in the British Parliament and we hope that our voices will be heard. We will need your help to continue our campaign through direct contact with your local MP, especially those who hope to win the votes of the British Serbs come election time. We will continue to inform you of any future events or steps taken.

Reply received from the Foreign Office
It is estimated that close to 80 000 Serbs or people of Serbian origin live in the UK. A sizeable force.
Yet, we don’t seem to be able to make a difference. Our voice is simply not loud enough.
Given the recent developments in Kosovo, our PR Subcommittee has drafted a letter that you may use to write to your own MP and voice your opinion on the matter.
