GCSE – Level Course in London 2014 -2015
In the absence of a recognised British qualification in Serbian, the Round Table Working Group on the Serbian Language designed a Serbian Language course which meets GCSE standards and mirrors other Modern Languages exams in England. The Serbian Council of Great Britain (SCGB) piloted the Serbian Language Course in London and Corby and pupils have just completed the final exams A formal review will take place but feedback from pupils, parents and teachers has been very positive and SCGB intends to run the course again in London and in other locations, if there is sufficient demand.
The London course will run from 8th November 2014 and run until December 2015 and fees for the course are £200. Lessons will be held on Saturday afternoons from 14.00 -17.00 and will probably be held at the Notting Hill Methodist Church, 240 Lancaster Road W11 4AH. The course is aimed at pupils aged 12 and over who have some knowledge of Serbian and have competencies in listening, speaking, reading and writing Serbian 4AH. The course will be taught by qualified teachers and will be externally examined by Professor David Norris and Dr Vladislava Ribnikar,Department of Russian and Slavonic Studies, University of Nottingham, acting in a personal capacity. Those successfully completing the course will get a certificate from SCGB confirming attendance and that pupils have satisfied GCSE standards in Serbian. The certificate can be included in the pupil’s record of achievement.
This is a great opportunity for young people to develop their knowledge of Serbian language and culture. If you are interested in your child or children attending the course please get in touch with Olga Stanojlovic for more information and further details at [email protected]
